Looking Forward
There has been tremendous progress in [the area of reproductive health for crisis-affected
populations] over the past decade. But there are still serious challenges to ensuring access
to reproductive health for those most affected by crisis. Let us leave this conference with
renewed passion and compassion. We can and should do better - better analysis, better advocacy
and better programmes to meet the needs and protect the rights of people affected by crisis.
You are on the frontlines... You are among the unsung heroes in humanitarian situations."
- Thoraya Ahmed Obaid, UNFPA Executive Director
Reproductive Health in Emergencies Conference 2008 was a great success.
Looking past this success, we also keep an eye toward the future. The fourth conference in the series,
scheduled to take place in 2011, will provide the opportunity for participants from this most recent
conference to reconvene and share progress made and challenges encountered in the interim. Additionally,
we hope that new members of the field will be able to share in the dialogue and bring their own
experiences to the mix.
In the meantime, if you would like to receive regular updates related to RAISE, along with related
articles of interest and information on the 2011 conference, we encourage you to join
the E-mail List.
