Our Work
The RAISE Initiative's advocacy projects are designed to:
- Increase understanding and awareness of the RH needs of displaced populations, as well as the
complexity of the factors that can contribute to their vulnerability in the absence of RH services
- Draw attention to the existing international policy framework, such as the International Conference
on Population and Development (ICPD) Plan of Action, the Beijing Platform for Action and the
Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women which recognises RH as a basic
human right to which all people, including refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs), are entitled
- Encourage decision makers to include comprehensive RH as an integral part of their humanitarian
policies and action
- Support decision makers through the provision of technical support, high quality
research and programme evidence that highlight the critical need for improved RH service delivery
from the onset of emergencies, as well as the long term benefits of ensuring adequate, timely,
quality RH care to those affected by humanitarian emergencies
